In a violation of strict Chinese gambling regulations, three Australian employees of Crown Resorts Ltd. were to be prosecuted as was confirmed by China in November last year.
Jason O’Connor, the head of Crown’s VIP international team, who was visiting China from Melbourne and Australian-Chinese dual nationals Jerry Xuan and Jenny Pan were the three Australians detained.
All the detained casino employees in October last year have been charged with promoting gambling.
Crown Resorts Ltd. confirmed that all the employees, detained and those released on bail, have been charged with offences related to the promotion of gambling.
Chinese laws for Casino gambling are very strict as it is illegal in mainland China and anybody is banned from organising groups of more than 10 Chinese citizens to gamble abroad. As per Chinese law if anyone “runs a gambling house or makes gambling his profession” can face up to three years in prison.
